Internationally renowned conductor Itay Talgam shared his observations that the essential elements of conducting the flow of orchestral performances and promoting harmony in them are powerful metaphors for businesses.
Music making embodies knowledge and innovation, individual effort and collective achievement, and offers a work environment that is full of opportunities for excellence and self-actualization – the same as with any successful organization.
Simon Sinek’s presentation focused on leadership lessons based upon the biology of the human brain. He explained how four chemicals control the feeling of happiness and why that is important for employee engagement.
I also recommend Simon’s TED talk. It is the fifth most-viewed on the TED site. If you watched any of the other incredible TED’s presentations, you know that is quite an accomplishment!
1. Passion is overrated.
2. Questions beat answers.
3. Make it purposeful and make it personal. See if you can answer his question, “What is your sentence?”
